I don't remember super well anymore, but the girl Mizuumi is based on lived on or near an emu or llama ranch at one point (I don't think it was both), and that seemed super appropriate for her character.
The first theme I came up with for the comic was that of feeling like you've waited too long to get life going. If I had any idea that in a decade I'd actually be LESS far along in life, well...
Anyway, I miss those creative panel shapes. The problem is that the more you have to put in, the more you need maximum real estate.
Also the dislike for agriculture is something I've always carried with me.
