I was so proud of that background, though now it looks pretty crummy. I was using Minecraft as a reference. I figured using dark gradients would make it look like it was rippling and not a solid sheet.
I kind of messed up here and confused the temperature of Mercury with being comparable with magma, but later I excused Riven (who is only half-blooded as you recall) being so heat-resistant by saying her fire mana is turned up really high from learning the Drunken Sun technique from her dad. It's all videogame shit anyway, and I had that solidly in mind.
