Hopefully that doesn't seem too much of a nonsequitur or break in the story. Alex made a big fiery bird to signal the same boat that previously answered the summons of a hercinia. Not sure if he knew that's how the party got there, but given where he lives it's not unreasonable that he knows this method. I guess that assumes he knows where he currently is... Which.. I guess is still near the ocean. I'm pretty sure I put it that way on the map, but it wasn't clear at all from the journey as shown.
This grass is just a mess. I dunno. I spent a lot of time detailing the bark because I'm good at that, but the grass suffers. I probably should have done more with the Marquis de Carabas but I just had to put the premise out there. I mean how insane is that story? It doesn't even have real conflict. It's exactly something a miller's son or a marquis would daydream and possibly delusionally tell people.
