It's an art reference. Look it up. The Fastboat this aint, but it did the job. Whoever's talking abottom panel four is pretty much speaking for me. I wanted some fun high seas adventures but it only took two boat drawings to remind me why I hate drawing boats.
Anyway I think we've all played videogames with wonky navigation systems. Also did you notice the flame is a different color this time? Man I miss Gedde Watanabe.
