Sigmund has lots of little tanks all over the temple. He can just swing around. When I look around at this place, I can't help but think of Milo Murphy's Law, a show that did time travel humor so fantastically. You should just go watch it all.
So it sounds like their one-trip rule is enforced by the machine. It sounds like it uses the fact that it already works to make itself work... Also there's something wrong with the pouring pattern in that hourglass. At least it sounds like it has a spatial teleporter too.
Most of what makes the vortex look odd is I soft painted parts of the thin lines. I gotta remember that technique. It's weird and fun. And it's weird and fun that Robin's airheadedness actually set them onto the right path.
