I'm not even sure why but I got this visceral chill feeling from the tone of these pages. I kind of dig being outside in a safe urban area and feeling the atmosphere, y'know? I think I used to actually dream about being outside in the rain or something.
On the other hand, hobos (really they seem to be bums; hobos travel and work). Some of you might remember Rack'em Willie, but once again at the time I think I felt the reference obscure enough to be clever to include, rather than lazy. Bushyface guy is quoted directly from a bus weirdo. I love bus weirdos. They stand up at the front and mutter to the driver. And hey look it's the door-to-door ham guy again! Now he is definitely a hobo. He travels and he sells ham.
