I think I was still very much in "funny papers" mode here if I thought the nagas were hard to draw, given how utterly spartan each panel is. I recall actually being annoyed by drawing the prison bars.
I'm not sure where I got the idea of nagas bearing a large gem on their foreheads, I think maybe some book? Remarkable Journey of Prince Jen maybe? The Iron Ring? Either way somehow I just took that for granted and didn't feel the need to explain it. Meanwhile the geometry of the king's head vis-a-vis a gem covering it up is just baffling.
In later years I would find myself often having no idea what to draw in the background, just characters messing around. How I forgot you can just kinda have one levitate another for fun, I have no idea.
Also I really hamstrung myself there because lens flare aint so bad. I just wanted to joke... but I stuck by that! I think.
Oh and finally "niggas and cornbread y'all" is some phrase a friend of mine used to say, so that is an inside joke I guess.
