So yeah linear dodge is how you make a Ryouko-style beam saber.. sometimes. I miss 80s-90s animation special effects. They were all so cool but kind of messy, like that one with that was all white with colorful water ripples on it... and you can tell they had to cut things out by hand, because sometimes the scene would pan and the effect wouldn't. And what was the deal with old 80s-90s Star Trek special effects? Am I right?
I love how sometimes Riven has just frozen a bit of someone and I drew that so it looks like she participated. So lazy. See, the linear dodge looks a lot better against the purple floor and the parts of Kaen and especially Mizu it goes in front of.
